I love MEA and especially the angara very deeply. I’ve been doing my postgrad on the use of alien and robot characters in human-centric settings as neurodivergent representation and the social implications of that, as well as fandom reclaiming these characters that already have an audience as a way to educate, and to share our perspectives. The angara are as alien as they come - they are alien alien, from a whole new galaxy, literally just encountered, so I relate most to them. I’ve so far written just under 600 pages of analysis and worldbuilding based on the scraps Bioware’s thrown us and also made a project I am very proud of which I hope I get to share soon - a fully buildable, 3D mini version of the Repository of History with all the original exhibits as well as a ton of new ones, and lots of story/history to go with them! Presented for the time being, thanks to the pandemic, as a helpful, glossy little museum guide.And I am currently writing my thesis and producing a very large scale, public artwork project also based around the angara and their worlds - fictive worlds within fictive worlds inhabited by aliens who are alien to each other, separated by time and space and strife, but who use their differences and varied interpretations as a way to connect and build community. And in this one there is no human-alien interactions; instead we are the aliens, observing from outside and also part of this thought and communication experiment.
