thosearentcrimes:cop-disliker69:lesbiskammerat:Actually I think for Constantinople they just used a big gunHas this literally ever happened? Even once? AFAIK the so-called “sharia no-go zones” in European cities are complete fiction lol. I’m pretty sure this has never happened, except possibly with literally just the city of Medina? Even then, I think the order was not the one given by the meme. The expansion of Islam as a religion was by conquest, conversion of elites through proselytism, and establishment of (integrated, non-secessionist) merchant communities for trade. The recent phenomenon of independent migration into ghettoized areas of European “secular” societies (note to fascists: if you want to stop Muslim immigrants from concentrating and becoming a majority in slums you should probably make it affordable and safe for them to live elsewhere by giving them money and establishing social housing) seems to be what this meme is paranoid about, and it has no connection to the historical expansion of Islam. Sometimes, when a country decides it owns half the planet and starts imposing its culture and language there, some people in that half of the planet decide to move into the metropole, this happens regardless of religion.I have a rule of ignoring anything fascists say, since it’s almost always false, and they’re incapable of interpreting the truth anyway, so what does it even matter. The Birmingham schools scandal was one of the rare cases where they initially had a pretty decent handle on the facts (which they lost pretty quickly), but also is a case that proves the second half of my argument. Mosques did exert significant amounts of control over many of the schools in their areas, including in terms of staff and curriculum. Apparently a lot of the non-Muslim kids got bullied, and I’m pretty sure all the kids got worse educations than they should have. But very few of the people trying to interpret these true statements even know where to start. The UK’s way of being “secular” without having to take away the privileges of the Church of England was to just give some of those privileges (including state-sponsored indoctrination of children) to the other religions. The other religions used to be Catholics and Presbyterians and Jews, mostly, but now it also means Muslims and Hindus (this was mostly intentional on the part of, say, Tony Blair’s Labour, but accidental on the part of the Conservatives). This was not a case of Muslims seeking to subvert the state by building a state within a state, but a case of Muslim authorities seeking to participate in the state in the way that everyone else already can. Which is to create a bastion of state-sponsored pedophilia that I assume every religious institution that works with children is until proven otherwise, especially on Nonce Island. Most European secularism is this sort of pluralist bullshit. Special privileges granted to the state religion, expanded to specific minority religions in the 19th and 20th centuries, but carefully phrased so as to avoid violating any specific laws. Now, the other religions, the ones that immigrants have, start trying to get them too, and rather than dismantle the privileges, everyone starts agitating against those evil foreign religions that want to indoctrinate children, which our good religions (flip a coin to see if Judaism counts!) would never do. -- source link
