The Dead Romans Society - Page 6<>Next*Note: About Catullus’ joke: O fortunatam natam me consule Romam is that infamous line from the self-celebrative poem about Cicero’s consulate, De consulatu suo, that was written by Cicero himself approximately between 60-55 BC. Now, Catullus probably died in 54 BC (we are not sure of this and we do not know the cause of his death. We only know he died at thirty years old), so shortly after that poem was published.
