A few things to celebrate amidst the tender: 1) congrats to @seoulcialite on the launch of @goodlight.world . Thank you for inviting me to be part of this as a face model. Often times non binary people are left behind in conversations about beauty and care. I’m excited about this line because it’s by us and from us. Such a pleasure to be on set with these lovelies. Shout outs to @wethepeoplecreative @bukunmigrace . What happens behind the scenes is as important as what happens in front of camera. It’s always so good and powerful to see yourself reflected in those behind the cameras and in production. 2)As we have come into one year of this pandemic I was invited by @weareunidosus to share a poem for our communities. I wrote a poem in homage to my Tio Angel and everyone we have lost to #covid_19 specially front line workers. My Tio Ángel passed away last Fall and like many of you who have lost someone it is an ongoing process of mourning, grieving, and also finding ways to celebrating their life. If you want more details about the performance of that poem go to slide 4, and you can sign up via @weareunidosus for their streaming of the Capital Awards. Thank you @jm_longoria & @rodriguezfilm for production of the video for the poem. 3) Last year i was scheduled to go to Ecuador as an invited artist for @arteyactivismos and present ok my work. But covid happened and that was postponed. It’s happening next week virtually. So thrilled to be “coming home” as an artist and get to speak on my craft. I’ll be performing old poems from #nostalgiaandborders . Thank you @pecesrojos and everyone in Ecuador for making this migrant artist dream come true. My return to my country has always been on achy terms, after being #undocumented for 21 years the first two times back I went on last minute trips to attend funerals. This past year would have been my first time in Ecuador for my artistry. For now we shall do it virtually!! Details to that talk on slide 5.
