River says that when they went to Darillium “the towers sang and you cried”. This doesn’t look like a distraught, ‘my wife is going to her death’ face. Second, Moffat, Kingston, and Capaldi have all said that this episode is very light-hearted and fun. This Christmas special is meant to balance out all of the sad drama from series 9. Moff LOVES to play up any angst in an episode, and it doesn’t seem like he’s been doing that with this episode. If they WERE going to Darillium, Moff would be dropping hints left and right just to watch us squirm. Third, the scenery terrain looks suspiciously like Gallifrey. I went back and took some screenshots of the Gallifreyan terrain from the finale. Both terrains are red and rocky. (WHY would they have two planets that look so similar? It would be incredibly boring to have Nevada, Gallifrey, AND Darillium all look so similar when they’re in back-to-back episodes. They have a green screen!) I could definitely see the Doctor finally taking River to see his home planet (she technically is First Lady, after all). The balcony is gold, the color of the City’s buildings, and River is wearing red, the Gallifreyan color of high-ranking officials. Also, There was mention in a synopsis that they’ll go to a place that he’s been avoiding… Maybe he’s been avoiding Gallifrey since he became Lord President? Who knows. So yeah, that’s my idea. Let me know what you think.I like this idea so much better than Darillium!Wait, wait, wait, wait…“Hell Bent”:GENERAL: Gallifrey is currently positioned at the extreme end of the time continuum for its own protection. We’re at the end of the universe, give or take a star system.“Forest of the Dead”:RIVER: I’d trust that man to theend of the universe. And actually, we’ve been. And now I’ve invested myself in this theoryIf this doesn’t happen I’ll be mad that they passed up the reference opportunityOoooooooh YESMoffat talk about an emotional scene that Alex played in an incredible way, beating his expectations. An emotional scene does not necessarily have to be a sad scene. In the place were the are, we can see a lot of lights and flowers, and it doesn’t look like a christmas decoration, even if it’s looks red, green and golden. And if this is Gallifrey, the Doctor may ask her to marry him again, because he has now a new face, and this time on his home planet. And then we will see a Traditional Gallifreyan Wedding. -- source link
