As I don’t use tumblr for any nsfw content, I will be staying on the platform, at least for the time being. Most other websites, like Instagam, Twitter, Pillowfort and more, aren’t acceptable for art sharing, they don’t function to artists’ benefits and it’s hard to get a following there unless you’re a BNF of some kind, or popular in another way.If you are jumping ship, I will be posting on other platforms for the sake of those who are jumping. I have a Patreon, Instagram, and Twitter, all three of which are a little underutilized by my own admission, but if you want more of my Taz, Homestuck, Steven Universe, OC, etc content, I will be posting there as well.I don’t really see this as the end, but we’ll see how things go.I’m not going anywhere because there’s no where to go. Artists have no place in fandom on the internet. Artists have no place on the internet. Pillowfort isn’t made for art. Deviantart is dead and was bad for sharing anyway. Twitter and Instagram are trash layouts. AO3 isn’t a website that works for art and we all know it so there’s no chance in hell that artists are taking to a fanfic site and trying to cash in on that “fanworks” title. It’s not.This is the only website that lets people post art and gain a following, and to some people, having a following can cost jobs, both current and future.If you want to jump ship, go ahead, but I’m sitting still for now, because I have no where else to go that’s even remotely close to working for artists. Already seen insensitive comments about sfw artists who stay being purists of some kind, like we think we’re above things. I just know my blog won’t immediately get deleted and I can send reports for wrongfully flagged content, and hope either to ride things out or wait for something new to come along.Don’t start sending either of my blogs messages about how I feel about this or how wrong I am, I think I’m rightfully sensitive the same way most sfw artists are at the loss of the only social media website that worked for us and gave us a chance to have recognizion.If this website literally goes down burning like everyone says it will, know I begrudgingly went to one of these other sites with the full knowledge that I, along with all other small time fandom artists, will never garner a following on websites not made for them, with there still being no website for fandom artists, caring about the things they need and the issues they face.No, tumblr isn’t perfect, especially right now, but no other website has a layout that accidentally caters to precisely what artists need to flourish. If your salt towards me sitting on a sinking ship is at how stupid I am, reconsider why I and many others feel like THIS hellhole is the only place we can be.A little sympathy for those who chose not to get onto hole-filled lifeboats, alright? -- source link
