Painted by Benjamin West in 1770, This painting depicts the death of General James Wolfe during the Battle of Quebec* (Sept. 13, 1759) during the French and Indian War (Otherwise known as the “Seven Years’ War” outside the United States). This painting currently resided in the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. As an interesting side note, General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, Wolfe’s opponent was killed on the field during the course of the battle as well. *I will dedicate an entire video to the Battle of Quebec sometime in the future, once I get an adequate camcorder. -- source link
