Kicking off the new year with my first proper druid subclass! The circle of the sentinel is followed by druids who dedicate themselves to protecting the world’s forests, and who possibly admire trees to the extent where they’d actually quite like to become one themselves. In battle, they can turn into gigantic juggernauts made of bark and branches, and as grass type Pokémon they can use Razor Leaf as well. In their sentinel form, they can’t be bullied or bashed around easily, and even if their organic armour is struck off, they can cause it to come to life and continue fighting for them in the form of a small, wooden guardian. My intention with this circle was to make a tanky Druid subclass similar to the Circle of Spores, capable of controlling crowds of enemies and keeping them away from more fragile party members. The sentinel form gives you a high AC that gets progressively higher, and eventually will allow you to withstand anything that would try and control your position or damage you with nonmagical weapons. While it shines as a defensive subclass, this circle can pack a punch as well: the ability to summon many leaves to attack enemies as a bonus action means you’ll be able to keep up with the rest of your party in terms of damage, especially if you’re in your sentinel form, as in that case your leaves can also make your quarterstaff or thorn whip attacks hit especially hard.In other news, one week from today it will be the anniversary of Coco’s Homebrew! I’ll publish a post to commemorate the occasion where I’ll talk about my favourite content and your favourite content from 2020, so look out for that on my patreon. If you want to check out what I made last year, consider pledging so that you can get PDFs of everything (including this subclass). You’d be helping to support me doing this and it would mean the world to me. See you on the 18th! -- source link
