The Charolla y Anitua semi-automatic pistol,First patented in 1898, the Charolla y Anitua pistol was the first Spanish made semi-automatic pistol to hit the firearms market. Based heavily on the C-96 “Broomhandle” Mauser, the Charolla pistol featured a recoil operated bolt the ejected empty casings while loading new cartridges into the magazine. The magazine itself was a fixed magazine fed from stripper clips which held 6 rounds. While the pistol was made a various calibers, the most common was the small 5mm Clement. Due to the anemic qualities of the cartridge later models were manufactured in 7mm with a six round detachable magazine. Altogether around 5,000 Charolla y Anitua pistols were manufactured, with 3,000 produced in 5mm clement and 2,000 produced in 7mm. -- source link
