juniperandjawbones:neromancerart:NjallaAdding some info for context because I see these described on Tumblr all the time as “witch houses” or “Baba Yaga’s hut” and it’s annoying to have our very real history and culture reduced to myths especially ones completely unrelated to the Sámi:A njalla (pronounced “nyah-lah”) is a storehouse used by Sámi people to store food (usually meats like fish or wild game). They are built on top of wooden poles or sawed-off tree trunks to keep the food elevated where predators can’t easily get at them. The notched pole in the front serves as a staircase/ladder to reach the door. -- source link
