davediddlystrider:lyingturtle:Except for that she talks like a razzle dazzle glamor pop star and it’s hilarious.I think you can find something cute and funny and still be terrified of it. That’s sort of what makes her character really unique and cool. Also consider that a large portion of Harry Potter fans call Voldemort “Voldy”. Voldemort attempted genocide twice, tortured thousands, learned dark arts so twisted they were lost to most of wizard kind and was feared even among those who followed him. He was a formidable villain with no “cute” or “adoring” qualities to him that fans could romanticize, and yet here we are calling The Dark Lord “Voldy”. Why? Well MAYBE it’s because we understand that these villains are, in fact, fake and they do not exist. They are good characters nonetheless and we appreciate the fact that they were written rather well. We like the dynamics they have to the story, even if they were evil bastards, and we can’t help but refer to them fondly because they are a part of a the fond experience of reading their books.Look at it this way: no one in their right mind would EVER call Hitler “Hitly” like a pet name, and that’s because Hitler actually existed and had a terrifying effect on our real world. In a way, by calling these Villains pet names, it sort of reminds us that they aren’t real. And god damn am I glad I don’t live in a world with The Condesce or Voldemort at large. -- source link
