ao3org:The year isn’t over yet, but with all server purchases done (for now!) and most other expenses for the Archive due on a monthly basis, we have a pretty good idea of our spending this year. The chart breaks down the money spent in 2015 to keep the Archive of Our Own running on its fandom-owned servers.Since we finalized things with our shiny new contractor only very recently, we can only make an informed guess as to how much we’ll be spending on paid coding work during the remainder of the year. For the professional MySQL support plan, we paid the full sum for a three-year deal this year. We’ll actually benefit from the expense shown in this chart well into 2018.The full breakdown of the US$ 165,513 total:Servers & infrastructure (several purchases): US$ 70,713Colocation (billed monthly): US$ 33,000Ruby on Rails Contractor (projected): US$ 30,000MySQL Support (for three years): US$ 27,000Server Monitoring & Analytics (billed monthly): US$ 4,800For a fun comparison, check out this cost analysis from 2012, when we spent US$ 52,000 for the whole year.(If you can support the AO3 and the OTW’s other projects financially, donations are welcome!) -- source link
