This image likely appeared in the New York Times just prior to the Broadway premiere of Phantom in January, 1988. Mr. Hirschfeld rendered countless such images in anticipation of new productions for the NYT during his career, including a cartoon for Michael Crawford’s return to Broadway for the ill-fated Dance of the Vampires in 2002. -- source link
