Brazilian soldiers of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force, or BEF (Portuguese: Força Expedicionária Brasileira, or FEB) fire an 81 mm mortar at enemy German positions in the final throes of the Spring 1945 Offensive (Operation Grapeshot) of the Italian Campaign. The campaign would begin on 6 April 1945, and officially end on 2 May 1945 after the formal signing of the Surrender of Caserta on 29 April 1945.
