I really don’t understand this argument. This has always seemed like common knowledge to me, but it’s entirely possible to enjoy a character without condoning their actions. For better or worse, I will always have a piece of my heart in Inception fandom. That has nothing to do with whether I approve of digging through people’s minds without their consent. And I love Teen Wolf, but I don’t actually advocate coercing underage kids into essentially joining a cult. Oh, and when Ashur was still around on Spartacus, I fucking loved him because he was so awful, no friendly reminders necessary. And wanting Peter (or Dr. Pryce, or Norman, or Dr. Chasseur and a strap-on) to give Roman a good long face-fucking doesn’t mean I’m ignoring the nonconsensual sex, antiziganism, and homophobia that Roman has demonstrated so far. Nor does it mean I think it’s totes cool for an authority figure to take advantage of a 17-year-old, or that the source material itself is solid gold (I mean, come on, there are so many things wrong with this show it’s preposterous but I know I’m still mainlining it). It does mean that I would most definitely read the hell out of that. Being a fan of someone doesn’t mean you agree with everything they represent. I didn’t realize this was something that needed to be specified. -- source link
