Soviet Army officers, recently liberated from Oflag VI-B prisoner of war camp by elements of the First United States Army, await treatment in the camp’s infirmary. Opened in September 1940, Oflag VI-B mainly held British, French and Polish military officers. The camp was the site of several daring escape attempts by British and Polish officers in 1942 and 1943.
