myfairylily:The Spaniards Inn is believed to have been built in 1585 on the Finchley Boundary, forming the entrance to the Bishop of London’s estate. In the area frequented by highwaymen, it was popular amongst wealthy travellers and local visitors such as Sir Joshua Reynolds, Lord Byron, John Keats. It has also been mentioned in Dickens’s “The Pickwick Papers” and Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. According to a local legend, Keats wrote his “Ode to a Nightingale” in the surrounding gardens. | berolinensis -- source link
