phantompierce-okamoto:ynngaa:I think part of the reason why Lance is the most liked character in Voltron is that he’s the most relatable, on many levelsPidge felt her eyelids droop, her head nodding forward. She jolted up, trying to keep her weary eyes open. I need some music immediately. Loud music. Otherwise I may just fall asleep and never wake up.With a glance to her right, she noticed Lance’s phone resting on the table. She grinned, figuring Lance would definitely be the type to have loud, energetic music on his phone. She grabbed her headphones and plugged them in, pressing the button to start the music. Her smile faded as the notes started to play. I’m tired of waking up in tears‘Cause I can’t put to bed these phobias and fearsPidge blinked, confused and a bit worried. She skipped to the next song, wondering if that one had been a fluke. Yesterday I died, tomorrow’s bleeding. Fall into your sunlight. The future’s open wide, beyond believing. To know why, hope dies.Pidge pulled off her headphones in a quick movement, causing them to fall onto the couch. She was definitely awake now, her heart pounding at a tempo at least five times the speed of the song still lightly playing through her headphones. “What?” she whispered, shocked and horrified. “This has got to be a mistake.” Her eyes shifted forward, seeing Lance striking a very familiar pose, the confident Lance she thought she knew. His hands on his waist, leaning forward with challenging eyes and cocky smirk. That was the Lance she knew. The happy Lance, the one who dove into a fight for glory. Right? Is that him? Or was it all a front he put up to hide how he felt?Lance…are you okay? She felt tears pooling in her eyes, utterly confused. If anything had been constant, it had been Lance’s confidence. Between being ejected into space, fighting off enemies, never being sure where her family was, there had only been a few things that stayed the same. She thought Lance had been one of them. The familiar song Pieces by Red started to play through her headphones, and she let the tears fall. She felt stupid, naive, insensitive. How could she have noticed? They were a team. How had no one noticed? She stood up, shakily, placing her computer on the couch behind her as she tried to get to him. “Lance,” she whispered. He turned towards her, raising an eyebrow. “Pidge?” he responded, as if everything was normal. What was normal? Was this his normal? “Um, are you good?”She shook her head. “Your music,” she responded, her voice catching in her throat. Lance’s eyes widened slightly, his expression shaping into horror. Hunk, who he had been talking to, looked extremely confused. “Lance?”“Don’t tell anyone,” Lance hissed, desperately leaning towards her. “How can you ask me to do that? How can you not address-”“I’m fine!” he cut her off, loudly. Without another word, he stormed off and grabbed his phone as he left. Hunk turned to stare at Pidge, worry clouding his eyes. “What’s going on?” Hunk asked. Pidge sank to the floor, burying her face in her hands. “We’re all blind,” is all she could say. “We’re so, utterly blind.”That was amazing -- source link
