hildegard-von-bingen:The earliest-known hymn writer inhistory was the Akkadian highpriestess Enheduanna.  She lived in Ur during the 2200’s BC, and herfather was King Sargon of Akkad.Enheduannawrote hymns to the moon goddess Inanna, and the moon god Nanna. Unfortunately, notation wasn’t used at the time, so we don’t know howthey were sung.  But the lyrics can be read on cuneiform tablets.Her Temple Hymn 42(written for the Eresh Temple of Nisaba) opens with the lines:this shining houseof stars bright with lapis stoneshas opened itselfto all landsa whole mix ofpeople in the shrine every monthlift heads for youEreshall the primevallordsMore information: [1] [2] -- source link
