i’m gonna reply to these like this since i can’t reply through mobile right now!@just—charly: yes! i would love to make a book of doggies! i just need to make more of my own because i can’t sell a book of doggies that contains people’s commissions in it and i don’t yet have enough dogs of my own for a book i don’t think! but i could totally do it in the future!@fascismoeliberta: i totally see where you’re coming from here with someone wanting to print out my art and put in their journal! it’s not a big deal and i’m not gonna be crazy about it or be super mad if i found that someone did it because it’s not like you’re committing a CRIME or something haha. however! i do not want to contribute to this attitude that art on the internet is free for the taking, even for something as simple as printing out dogs and putting them in a journal. this is the kind of thing where it’s like the situation isn’t the biggest deal but starting to say ‘okay’ to this kind of thing will start this snowball effect where it’s like…where do i draw the line? i don’t want to readily say yes because then people are just gonna start printing my art everywhere and using it for whatever and possibly using my images to make other things that i can’t monitor. this is a thing that really only happens on the internet, which makes art stuff much harder to handle! the internet is both good and horrible for art! so while i don’t actually care that much about someone putting printed art in their journal of my stuff, it’s more about drawing a line that sets a sort of attitude that says artists should be paid for the work they do if someone is interested in using it or having iti know it sounds silly and like i’m making a big deal of it but i literally see almost no one on this site advocating for artist compensation or proper treatment of the work they do so i know the stuff i’m saying seems a little crazy in comparison to how other artists handle this stuffand just the fact that that person asked me permission for it tells you that they saw potential problems with printing other people’s work so it’s not about me sitting here money grabbing or anything like that -- source link
