As part of our partnership with WantedDesign and BKLYN DESIGNS for #NYCXD design week, curator, Barry Harwood will lead a Museum tour of our #BKMdecarts Collection–and participate in two panels at Wanted Design, Sunset Park– on Saturday, May 9th. Don’t worry, there will be a free shuttle running between both design fairs and the Museum. Leading up to design week, Harwood will be sharing select objects that will be featured in his tour.“This clock garniture–or, a set of decorative objects for display–was made in Paris at the same moment that the Eiffel tower was rising. When you turn the lower wheel on the candelabras, the cogs engage and the candle holders go up and down. The central candle holder swivels as well. This display of kinetic energy in a decorative arts object is rare and would be at home in that scene in Beetlejuice.” Learn more about #BKMdecarts objects on curator Barry Harwood’s #nycxd tour at the Museum, and at his @WantedDesign panel discussions, both on May 9th!Posted by Danny Tuss -- source link
