London Coliseum, Home of the English National Opera, 2010.When I was young, theatre and opera in London were cheap! And the English National Opera does all of its productions in English.After seeing them in German, I thought the librettos of Wagner’s Ring cycle to be pretentious and silly. Hearing one of Wagner’s Ring operas in English at the ENO confirmed my feelings. Wagner’s bombastic librettos are silly beneath contempt.
