intoconsistency:On November 2nd in Ogden, Utah, Title Fight played a show at Mojos Caffe & Gallery with Pianos Become the Teeth, Single Mothers, and Eons. Before Title Fight started playing, Ogden’s gang unit and some other police officers and the fire marshal were spotted walking through the venue and by the entrance. They wouldn’t allow anyone that had already paid for the show but went outside between sets to come back in for Title Fight because “there were too many people in the venue.” There was a lot of confusion about what was going on, but Title Fight started playing, not knowing that a bunch of their fans were stuck outside who had to watch from the street and a with a view blocked by these police officers.About 5 songs into Title Fight’s much anticipated set, the guy who was running the show made an announcement that the cops were making ALL BUT 40 PEOPLE exit the venue because this many people inside of the venue was a “fire hazard.” This included staff and the bands. No one really moved or did anything because they didn’t know if this was for real or not. Jamie Rhoden gave the idea that they would play outside in the back alley behind the venue. So finally, everyone started filing out. Everyone went around back and was denied at first because the door to get back their was locked. This is also when I realized how many cops were there. There were at least 5 squad cars, including 2 canine units parked outside. Ridiculous. So when everyone came back around to the front of the venue, the cops started mocking all the fans. One officer said, “Oh what happened to the back? Couldn’t hear him sing?” with a huge smirk on his face. I tried to get sassy with him, but he ignored me. It is amazing to me that the police would focus so much energy on shutting down such a positive event. There are gangs in Ogden, Utah and there are plenty of other things that I’m sure were going on that would have been a much more pressing issue to the police. But nope. Shutting down Title Fight was the number one priority.Eventually, everyone made their way back to behind the venue. Jamie had an amp and his guitar and him and Ned played a few songs. Honestly, this made me respect Title Fight so much. They really didn’t want to let their fans down and they definitely did not. The set was obviously a lot shorter than it would have been if they would have been able to finish the show inside the venue, but this made it worthwhile for all the fans. It was one of the best shows I’ve been to.But seriously, fuck the police. -- source link
