johnnybooboo:#I really love Lestrade in this episode #like I really love what they decided to do with him #I mean for most of the episode up to the point where Sherlock turns refugee #he’s doing his very best to believe in Sherlock #because he wants to believe that Sherlock is the hero #and this is all just a big misunderstanding #but he couldn’t just write Donovan’s suspicions off #because he’s supposed to be the leader #he needed to take every possibility into account #even if it meant that Sherlock might be involved in all this #and this scene just took the cake #when the chaos started and Sherlock took John as his “hostage” #you could just see it Lestrade’s face #’Oh God, no’ #’Please don’t tell me that you actually have something to do with this’ #he puts his hands to his forehead because he’s devastated #because he wanted to believe in him so much #and I also think that after Sherlock’s death #Lestrade blamed himself for the whole thing #for Sherlock’s stunt with the police #for Sherlock’s suicide #for everything #but any sensible person could argue otherwise #people in this fandom like to joke about Lestrade acting like Sherlock’s father #but it’s really quite accurate #Lestrade acts like he needs to watch over Sherlock #make sure he stays in line #and I think that Lestrade feels like he’s failed #that he couldn’t stop Sherlock from straying from the path #And I think that throughout the years after Sherlock’s suicide #Lestrade is still suffering in silence #and blaming himself for all that has happened to Sherlock and John #I’m sorry I just have a lot of feelings -- source link
