@ericselectrons : https://www.instagram.com/p/CIRR9qrALFI/I’ve been “canceled” so many times on and off the internet by people on the left and on the right I lost count. You have to understand that the loudest in cancel culture are psychologically stuck in high school. Their glory days are over and they’re down bad.The only way for them to feel a sense of worth outside of their miserable lives is to make others appear worthless, or worse, evil through cancelling them on social media. One thing people love to get together and form bonds over, other than sports and politics, is their mutual hatred of another person.I’m not here to complain. I’m here to offer solutions. So what do you do when you get canceled? How long does it generally last?My advice to anyone being canceled on the internet or anywhere else that leads to social media scrutiny is to just relax. It’s not that serious. There are 7 billion people on this planet. Just because 10,000 are focusing on you it doesn’t mean the world hates you. Most people will never know who you are. You’ll get a rush of disagreeable notifications for two weeks tops but it will die down. Depending on how you handled yourself you can even gain many friends or friendly acquaintances through the process.Cancel culture prides itself on creating new enemies to pick on so you’ll soon be old news and the target will be off of your back.Never apologize just to get them to stop complaining. Once you do that they’ll hold it against you FOREVER. When you apologize just to make peace you’re playing into their game and they now have something else to use against you even if you weren’t in the wrong. If you’re genuinely sorry or wrong admit to being wrong, but don’t apologize in order to stop the hate. That’s cowardly. Endure it and focus on the things you love doing. Continue on like nothing ever happened.Be the polar opposite of what they expect you to be. Be kind but bold and check people when they need to be checked, respectfully.Lastly, only focus on what you can control. When you know and love yourself, the fragmented perceptions people have of you aren’t your concern. -- source link
