hubertspala:Hastur, the King in YellowSome would argue that the Great Old Ones are not evil in their action or motives. That the very notion is a bit misguided, for how can we even try to measure the morality or ethics of beings from the distant cosmos, with powers that deny our understanding, lifespans that measure in eons and their whole being existing in a way we cannot fathom? Perhaps their sense of right or wrong is so utterly different than what we construct as an act of malignant, malicious intent is something natural and perfectly fine within the confines of their code of conduct? Or perhaps we are reaching too far… The answer might be simpler, more direct. Harsher and colder. We do not care for the bugs we squash under our feet. We do not ponder deeply or at all the creatures we annihilate on a daily basis with our enormity, our industry… Our fearsome capabilities. And it might just be that, for them. It is not an evil purpose that makes these mighty beings hurt us, it is merely the fact of our insignificance. At best we are mites, tiny and impossibly limited to them. At worst, we can be pest, noisome, irksome. Gnats that just need to be squashed for the peace of mind. But some are evil indeed. Some know our weaknesses, our vices. Some study our minds and souls to better reign them to their will, to manipulate, to lie and obfuscate. To toy with us, make us their puppets… Actors in plays they wrote ages ago. To what end, to what purpose? It is not for the pawns to know the movements of the King. -- source link
