meakosneezes:xsnowfallx:sephir-amy:papermulberry:captainamerica-in-the-impala:He and Legolas never had a single conversation, the only words ever spoken between them were, “and my bow”.I need this on a blog, at long last, to look at whenever I want.Frodo: I’m so overjoyed to see you all safe. Gimli, Aragorn, and- *discreetly looks at writing on palms*…L'orealas.Sorta building off of that, I really loved how Gimli bonded and looked after the hobbits. I think the reason for that is his father, Gloin, told him all about the hobbit burglar who saved their dwarfy hides several times over when Gimli was a child. He might have even met Bilbo once. It also explains his attitude towards all elves. Yeah, historically, his family has grudges, but that’s most dwarves. What Gimli sees when he deals with the elves, the Wood elves particularly, is the several month imprisonment. He doesn’t have as many problems with the Rivendell elves, probably because they were super hospital to the dwarves when they arrived. But the Wood elves mistreated his father, uncles, and cousins. Gimli does not forgive that. The hobbits though, were represented by Bilbo, who enjoyed good food, good wine, stories, was useful, kind, was easy to bond with, and was instrumental in reclaiming the homeland. Gimli based his opinions about different races based on the actions of individuals as told to him by others. So when he comes to call Legolas friend and when he witnesses the actions, and beauty, of other elves, he starts to judge people based on his own eyes rather than second-hand stories and reputation. Idk, maybe I’m wrong, but I do love Gimli and his character growth. -- source link
