snootle-noodle:My poor boy Arlo has a scab on his head and I don’t know if you can tell from the picture but his eye looks kinda cracky? He’s had some bad sheds recently so I’m not sure if that’s what caused this. Any advice on what to do to help him heal? Will he be okay? That looks like a sore from attempting to rub a shed. The vet likely has some antibiotics to keep it from getting infected, and perhaps something to make it heal faster. The cracks on the eye indicate retained eye cap(s). Those can be done at home, but I only really advise it for extremely experienced keepers, as the technique of rubbing off a cap terrifies a snake and if not done properly can injure them. It’s worth bringing up to your vet to see it they can show you how to do it, in case of issues in the future. Do note not to leave them on or layer further, as extensive layers of eye caps could damage the eye or even blind the snake, as in many rescues I’ve seen. But the overall prognosis for him is just fine! Snakes rub too much on occasion and just need a lil bit of help from the local exotics vet, and I’m sure he’ll be excited to get those eye caps off! -- source link
