The Swedish Model 1871 Revolver,One of Sweden’s first cartridge military revolvers, the Model 1871 was developed from earlier French pinfire lefauchaux designs. However this revolver was created specifically to used regular 11mm centerfire cartridges, and modified to serves the needs of the Swedish military. Among its most interesting feature is the oddly shaped handle, created with the idea of making easier to align the sights when drawn quickly and work its single action hammer, especially when using gloved hands. Loading was done through a loading gate on the right hand side, while each empty cartridge would have needed to be removed by hand one at a time.Around 13,000 M1871 Revolvers were manufactured. Interestingly, this revolver was also used to arm the Swedish Postal Service. -- source link
