peashooter85:The Swedish BAR— Kg/m 1921 BARIn 1921 the Karl Gustaf Stads Gun Factory would buy the rights to the American Browning Automatic Rifle. They would only make two major changes; a pistol grip and a change of caliber to the 6.5mm Swede cartridge. Due to the problem of overheating common with the BAR, later models would be created with detachable changout barrels. In the 1930’s belt fed models were also created that used a special tripod mounting, similar to German general purpose machine guns in WWII. The model 21 BAR and its descendants would become the main light machine gun and general purpose machine gun of the Swedish military. Fortunatly Sweden never had to use their BAR’s, remaining neutral during WWII. The Swedish military would continue to use the BAR until 1980. -- source link
