(Apologies again for the crappy photo, my camera still has mysterious dirt trapped inside the lens.) This is eventually going to be an 1830’s patchwork dressing gown. I miscalculated the size of the triangles slightly, so mine are a bit smaller than the original. After drafting my pattern, measuring the pieces, and doing some rough calculations I’ve worked out that I’ll need just over six thousand triangles. I currently have 4071 cut out, and an unknown number of those sewn together. Today I spent 2 hours just placing contrasting triangles right sides together and stacking them neatly next to my sewing machine. Yesterday I sewed triangles together for 4 and a half hours straight, which is way longer than I normally go without taking a break. This is by far the most engrossing project I’ve ever worked on. I started it over a year ago and can leave it untouched for months at a time, but once I’ve picked it up again I just don’t want to put it down. I want to keep putting more and more coloured triangles together… I don’t have a smartphone but I imagine this is the same sort of feeling that makes people endlessly play those little games that involve lining up coloured things? Yes? -- source link
