prismatic-bell: elodieunderglass: I felt like I needed to clarify some things before we could continue any more conversations on this godforsaken website. I’m very proud of the European Robin, I think I really captured it. @elodieunderglass I want you to know that this post sent me screeching indignantly to one of my English friends last year, going WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE DIFFERENT ROBINS, and he went WAIT THAT MAKES SENSE NOW——because I am originally from Pennsylvania, and told him stories about my pet* robin growing up. He couldn’t fathom how I hadn’t been harassed to death by angry parent robins.*to be clear: we had a 90ft pine tree in our front yard in the 1990s and raised a bird who fell out of it, and when he was old enough to fly away we let him. He actually returned to us a few years later and the local wildlife rescue said he was probably nearing the end of his life if he was returning to his first nest, so they took him in. I’d say we did a good job being mom birds, given the high mortality rate of juvenile robins. British robins are adorable but their souls are filled with murder and a complete disregard for humans. -- source link
