Necklace of Psusennes I with Seven ThreadsThe necklace of King Psusennes I has seven heavy gold threads attached to a gold rectangular plaque decorated with two cartouches bearing the names of the king. The two cartouches are flanked by two seated figures; on the right is the god Amun represented with two tall feathers on his head, and on the left is the goddess Mut shown wearing the Double Crown. The upper part of the plaque is decorated with the winged sun disk. All the plaque’s decorative elements are inlaid with semiprecious stones such as carnelian, lapis lazuli, and green feldspar. A series of gold chains of variable length are attached to the plaque and adorned with gold lotus flowers.Third Intermediate Period, 21st Dynasty, ca. 1047-1001 BC.
