marypickfords:hanna’s halloween 2019 favesattempting a list! here are 10 of my favorite movies that i watched this halloween. in no order really because that’s asking too much, but i think these are all amazing. here’s a list with all the ones that i watched (41) if anyone is interested :-)1. macabre (1980) - new orleans in the 80s, possessive lovers, a soup made of people & a little girl that simply doesn’t give a shit. do i need to say more? this is for the ones that love to see a woman scream her heart out and indulge in all of her desires.2. vampyres (1974) - old isolated houses, women in capes preying in the woods & oblivious men walking to their deaths. just wonderful.3. love me deadly (1973) - i talked here about my love for movies about women necrophiles and that’s it, really. the disconnect with the real world, the attempts to fill your fantasies and to work out past trauma (and losing yourself in it), the pain when it doesn’t work as you imagine.. really love this.4. the she butterfly (1973) - an enchanted forest where vampires hide in mills. wonderful folk tale that is just 63min long and every second is enjoyable. let the haunting music fill your headphones and get lost in the woods :-)5. the gold of love (1983) - for lovers of movies about ‘one surreal night’, where women kill men in dark alleyways, girls cry blood, your idols shine so bright it blinds you and the music simply doesn’t stop.6. a lizard in a woman’s skin (1971) - dream sequences, fractured editing, chases that lead to the oddest places & the best female detective looks. actual lesbian florinda bolkan stars this fulci giallo in all her brazilian gloriousness and it’s def a must watch!! i was hooked from the very first scene.7. the living dead at manchester morgue (1974) - the kind of enviromental horror we need in 2019, where all cops are garbage and the real enemy (like real life), newborn babies are also zombies?? & this little town you were just driving through feels like the only (and last) place on earth.8. lisa and the devil (1973) - so you like dreamlike movies, how about ones where you are listening to a tour guide and get distracted by a song only you seem to hear. you leave the tourists and suddenly everything is quiet. you wander through empty spanish streets and pass through a keyhole that leads you to another.. world? era? who knows. but the devil is there.9. the maze (1953) - for lovers of bluebeard adjacent movies, where the leading lady knows whatever her husband (fiancé in this case) is hiding is dangerous, but she is just too curious to let it go. put on your nightdown, light that candle and let’s walk through empty hallways and staircases after midnight.10. just before dawn (1981) - the iconic premise: a group of young adults go camping, do not listen to warnings of danger and things get scary. this is a perfectly good atmospheric slasher, with an eerie theme song (you will hear that whistle in your sleep), bloody sunsets & a soft focus lens that only adds to the nightmare-ish feel it all has. a movie that needs more love! -- source link
