The Miraculous Mentor AU expands!! ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉI finally caught up with the NYC Special! And got a lot of notes/messages about how I accidentally predicted the Sparrow twist in this post two years ago. I won’t say “I can’t believe it” since I thought it was a pretty plausible idea from the start, but it’s still funny! :VAnyway, I never ended up doing anything else with my own Sparrow, Renée Martin, so what better move is there than to add her to the Mentor AU along with the rest of the old team? She would have been Sparrow of NYC until an argument with Knightowl split them apart; Renée moving to study in Paris and settling with the Quantic Team instead. If Knightowl is Batman and Sparrow is Robin, Renée is more of a Nightwing character.I imagine her as the equivalent to Mlle. Bustier, a teacher at the NYC school François-Dupont was paired with (which I assume Jess and Aeon attend with the rest of the roof party kids), using her few years’ experience living/studying in France to teach the language. She has a cold relationship with Barb and isn’t interested in getting dragged into vigilante work again, but if Jess needs guidance from someone who’s not her mom then Renée will hear her out. Felix at least lets Plagg into the apartment, but Renée will shut the door in Barb’s face given the chance!The Special also revealed that Mercury - who some of you guys will remember from my Quantic Squad posts, as well as the earliest Quantic-era media with Felix, Bri and Allegra - is a fully fledged NYC hero! We saw an action figure of him way back in Party Crasher, but the Special is our first confirmation he’s a real person. Which of course means it’s time to introduce him to the Mentor AU too! I’ve always intended to add the rest of the Quantic Team but this was the perfect excuse to start. Allan’s the only one of the gang who’s remained a superhero, and thrives in the NYC culture where costumed heroes are a real lifestyle. He and Renée moved to the US for college/université and stuck around together. They haven’t really kept up with international news for a while, so they’re very surprised to see a new baby Ladybug and Chat Noir running around the city!
