The Heinz 2011 Annual Report - Cécile Dumetier: London-based graphic designer C&eac
The Heinz 2011 Annual Report - Cécile Dumetier: London-based graphic designer Cécile Dumetier created the Heinz 2011 Annual Report as an interactive document, his thinking was that users across the World are interacting with Heinz on a daily basis: pulling tabs, tearing sachets and tapping the bottom of their ketchup bottles. He transcribed that interactivity beautifully through a minimalistic piece of editorial design that allows the user to take part in its creation through tearing, turning upside down and peeling different elements to discover new informative pages. The book is stitched, equally adding to the interactivity, as users will not think of the book as precious but will instead be more willing to tear through it. The Heinz 2011 Annual Report is a wonderful example of how the limitations and boundaries of conventional editorial design can be broken. With the technology available to designers today, users can be more involved with books than ever before through implementation of various printing techniques and typographic practice.
