15 We’ve all got both light & dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are. (Sirius Black/J.K. Rowling)I wasn’t able to watch the episode yesterday (Monday - another long day of errands, but happy ‘cause I went to ballet class). Today was another long day of errands, so I was very glad to get home and spend the evening de-stressing with OUAT![I was just about to post this, when I realised that it also falls perfectly under my musings tag. For all intents and purposes, tagging it both under musings & all things happy/101 smiles.]If you’ve been following OUAT, you’d know that Emma Swan, the daughter of Snow White & Prince Charming, who was sent to grow up in our World With No Magic, whose first love was Rumplestiltskin’s son, the mother of the one with the Heart of the Truest Believer aka Now The Author, Captain Hook’s True Love and(?) Soulmate, the Saviour, the bringer of Happy Endings, is also now the Dark One.We learned from Arthur that Merlin prophesied that The Saviour will be the one who will release him from the tree he was trapped in. The Nevengers (lol, can we still call them that? whatever, I’m still calling them that, even with the additions of Belle & Robin) didn’t want Emma to use her magic in fear of her using dark magic. The way I see it, they completely disregarded the fact that she is still the Saviour. In this episode, 5x05, titled “Dreamcatcher”, we finally meet Merlin. Who got him out? Emma. Granted, without the help of Regina, the rest of the crew for their research, Henry’s tear, she wouldn’t have been able to, but still, she took the brunt of the work.As @onceuponamirror writes it perfectly in her meta: it was very interesting the way it took both light and dark magic to free Merlin. It’s hard to say how much of that was the spell and how much of it was Emma, but regardless, that is light magic, which means Emma is still capable of wielding it. Not that any of us doubt her, but it is an indicator, and an important one after she’s just done something so terrible.I chose this scene for my 101 smiles post today, because (aside from it being my personal favourite scene) it is a reminder. We’ve all got both light & dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are. (Sirius Black/J.K. Rowling)But I also chose it because it is a message. Emma Swan was able to free Merlin fresh from committing an act of betrayal, an act of darkness. But even so, she was able to wield light magic. It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.I’m really glad, I’m really thankful for OUAT - Adam & Eddy, the rest of the writers, Disney, and of course, the wonderful cast. I don’t think words would be enough to show my gratitude. I hope they all know & always remember (especially when shrouded in negativity) how positive an impact they leave on me and my fellow fans. -- source link
