People need to care more about them please report lost kitties. :(If people insist on having outdoor cats as well, they should have their own collars too. Make a clear distinction.this!!!I love cats please save themWe were talking about this at work, cats are the single most mistreated pet. The ones that live outside have a life expectancy of 3-5 years. They don’t die of old age, they die of dog and wild animal attacks, disease and preventable viruses, being run over, and being shot or poisoned. A lot of times the cat just goes missing and the owner doesn’t know what happened. And when they’re gone they’re just replaced. They don’t get their vaccines and proper preventative care. There are WAY more cats in the world than dogs (estimates I read said 400-600 million cats live in households with another 600 million living independently from humans. Dogs was about 470 million with no estimate of independent dogs I’ve found yet), yet we see more dogs at the clinic than cats. Why? Because in most people’s minds, they’re replaceable. They’re basically self reliant, low maintenance pets because all you need to do is feed them. That’s if they’re outside; a lot of owners try to start out with them inside then throw them out when the litter box becomes too much trouble and the bored cat with no enrichment demands too much attention. I’ve just seen it entirely too often. I love cats. I lecture the few owners who do bring their outdoor cats in, and it’s usually for something like a bite abscess or tape worms or they’re acting sick. Hell I just had one the other day with a prolapsed uterus because she was birthing kittens and one got stuck and she was pushing so much the uterus came out. This cat was born at this woman’s house, and never went to the vet. She has a bunch of cats outside just interbreeding and possibly spreading disease (she wouldn’t let us test the cat for FIV or leukemia so who knows). She didn’t even need to bring the kittens the cat had already had because there was another nursing cat who was acting surrogate. Cats are mistreated. Indoor cats live three times as long as outdoor cats (oldest cat I’ve personally seen was 24!). I apologize for the rant but I love cats and I really want to educate those who don’t know. I’m angry and frustrated at the ones who do know and don’t care but I know there’s some of you out there who don’t know and if you did you would do better for your kitties. Those are who I’m trying to reach. My cat is part of the Kitty Convict Project! Those collars come with a name tag too so you don’t have to buy it separately, and with free shipping it’s only $9 altogether. That’s better than even the cheapest collars in pet stores! -- source link
