amyleona:heterophobicgoat:stupidandreckless:NOOOO NO NO NONO FUCK FUCK FUCKIG CBS IS TELLING WOMEN NOT TO REPORT SEXUAL HARASSMENT BECAUSE IT WILL “DAMAGE THEIR CAREERS” and “HARASSMENT IS AN UNFORTUNATE PART OF CLIMBING THE LADDER” I AM SO ANGRY THEY ARE LITERALLY TURNING SEXUAL HARASSMENT INTO A NORM THIS IS NOT OKAYThis is an actual article and I’m still having a hard time believing it’s real. This will always piss me off so much.Report that shit. Tell people. Tell whatever supervisor or HR rep you’re comfortable with. Tell your friends and your therapist. Tell your co-workers, because God knows there’s probably more victims. Talk about how it affected you and how you’re coping with it.I know it’s terrifying. You’re afraid of losing your job, of getting a reputation, of not getting that raise or promotion, maybe even of screwing with someone’s marriage.Fuck that. Your safety is the most important thing. You are not safe if you are being harassed or feel like you can’t say anything about what’s being done to you or if you are being made to stay in an abusive and triggering environment. You don’t deserve that. And the person’s partner/spouse doesn’t deserve to not know the creepy shit they did.You know what happened when I told my employer that her husband asked me for sex? Well, first she cried. After a bit she thanked me and said she understood why I couldn’t stay in the position. Then she got really angry *at him*. She hit him and yelled at him about the kind of damage he’d done to their family and to me. She made him apologise to me, for every part of what he did.Speak up. Set an example for others struggling with whether or not they should come forward. Get the apologies or compensation that you deserve. Yell at them (or hit tbh) until they understand the damage they’ve done. Get the person who harassed you fired. (They violated their contract by harassing employees. They should be the one to be forced out. No sympathy.)Be vocal. It’s the only way to get through it and make a difference in the long run. -- source link
