King Street Station, WMATA Metro, Alexandria, 2007.Advance warning for those planning a trip to Washington, DC or its ole Virginny slurbs next summer: The Blue and Yellow Lines of WMATA Metro from National Airport to Huntington and Franconia/Springfield will be closed from Memorial Day to Labor Day 2019. That shall make access to Old Town Alexandria, served by King Street Station, difficult, as it will to all areas from National Airport to Huntington and Franconia/Springfield. Express bus service is supposed to be offered as substitute transportation, but past experience with that substitute is not promising. The roads in Arlington, Alexandria and Fairfax are already nearly impassable at many hours of the day, and the added traffic will not improve the situation.Careful where you book your hotel room! -- source link
