Enter the hallowed halls of the Brooklyn Museum this Thursday to put your most important organ (your brain) to work in the least effective way (drunk). Celebrate Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, 1861-2008 with the help of Brooklyn Brainery the Society for the Advancement of Social Studies (SASS) and a cash bar. The theme is “The Art of Amusement,” making us all artists for the night! Take a stroll through the galleries with our pop-up gallery talks, engage your creative, competitive spirit with an Instagram art contest, or just sit and sip as you listen to lectures held in the Glass Pavilion. Lectures will explore “Collecting Culture: The History of Souvenirs in America,” “Carnival Cuisine,” and “Early Amusement Parks.” Museum admission is completely free! All you have to worry about is showing up and getting drinks, so get here by 6:30pm to catch a pop-up talk and 7pm to snag a seat!Posted by Lena Sawyer -- source link
