Chert pick or adze from the Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic Period(7000 – 3000 BC, Isle of Wight). This tool is 17.2cm long, 5.9cm wide and 4.5cm thick. It has asub-triangular cross-section, and a hump-backed appearance from theside. It may have been made from a water-worn chert “pebble”. Four abrupt, long parallel removals created the edge. The tool wasalso used as a hammer, as can be seen by the pitting on one face, andon one edge at the butt end. -- source link
