leidensygdom:“The faint crimson glow consumed most of the area, creeping into every corner with its sickly light. The crystal growths around the statue had started consuming bits of the stone, a reminder of their endless reach. And there he stood, admiring the gargantuan figure, towering, strangely charming, yet also so very terrifying. It had a barely human face, with horns crowning it’s monstrous features. Empty eyes, an empty expression, and yet, he could feel it stare. He could feel an endless gaze upon him, even from thecorner of his eye. He was aware that the existence of this effigy was to be feared, and yet, it could be the key to salvation. “I wonder,” he spoke, his voice as soft and gentle as always, as if he was talking not to some eldritch abomination but a long time friend, “Is there something still within you? I seek answers. I’ve come from far, so far, into these forgotten depths. I hope a Watcher, out of all creatures – can enlighten me.”Then he saw it: The clear shape of eyes within the crystals, moving as he did, keeping their gaze upon him. Endless presences surrounding him: A whole myriad of barely visible entities expecting his next movement. Then, something otherworldly whispered, much clearer now, “Answers? That, I have. I can provide them, in exchange for your services”Another background I made as part of the Fragmina project. This one took the longest out of the three, but it’s also my favourite. It’s a scene from my DnD campaign, Gharmyra! It’s Velanzus meeting a huge watcher in the Underdark. I’ve always wanted to draw more underground scenes. -- source link
