Gun Myth: “This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” —Adolf HitlerReality: Hitler never actually said this and Hitler did not create a gun registration system while he was in charge.Gun registration had been a part of German law created by the Weimar Republic before Hitler’s reign of terror.  At the time Germany was rife with political turmoil as National Socialists, Communists, Facists, and Anarchists clashed in the streets.  The Weimar Republic created a gun registration system to prevent guns from being obtained by political thugs (it didn’t work, surprise surprise!). However I do find it interesting that gun registration was the only piece of law from the Weimar Republic that Hitler kept after he clawed his way to power.  The Nazi’s also enacted gun control laws in 1938 making gun ownership illegal for jews and non-citizens, aka, future conquered subjects.  -- source link
