Hans Thoma (1839-1924), ‘The Triton’, “The Studio”, 1899Two different printings of the same Thoma lithograph demonstrate how presentation can affect the image involved. The first scan doesn’t quite pop like the second scan does, the second giving more shine and glow to the sun in the background. I like both images for different reasons and thought that juxtaposing them for comparison might lead to a fruitful consideration of how we see art based on the medium involved and/or how that art is displayed.
