The waistcoat dates to 1780-1789.The third image is a scene inspired by the opera Dido & Aeneas which debuted in 1785. The costumes on the characters are based on those worn by the actors in the opera. The waistcoat was made between 1785-1795.The waistcoat on the bottom depicts a scene from Aesop’s fable “The Wolf and the Crane” (where a crane assists in removing a bone that’s stuck in the wolf’s throat) and was made between 1780 and 1800 -- source link
