A date with my second familyLast March 9th, I got to spend quality time with most of my closest friends and classmates. It was sort-of a farewell party because we were all headed off to different places and had different plans for the summer. We all met early in the morning (well, I accidentally slept-in and ended up delaying some plans and such) and went grocery shopping for brunch. We had a tough time deciding on what to make due to taste and budget, but thankfully, we all managed to decide on something and grabbed some ingredients for mac n’ cheese. We headed off to a friend’s house and he forgot to tell us that, despite the spaciousness and great ambiance his home had, he didn’t really have anything to cook with. We had to borrow some pots and other stuff we needed from the house right across the road. After an hour and several cooking improvisations (we actually used the blue food cover on the top-left photo as a giant strainer) later, we managed to make a pot of cheesy deliciousness good enough for several people. We had a good time fixing the dining area like we were this big, cliche, suburban family on a TV show. We also had these great cupcakes for dessert. Thanks, Mrs. Bonifacio! After eating and cleaning up, we decided to listen to some music and play random games. We didn’t really have anything planned for the 30C weather. Here’s a recap of the things we did:We actually had a staring contest. Our friend Albert, who lives in the house, told us that his favorite thing to do is to just sit and stare at everything. Well… I couldn’t blame him. The house is full of paintings and statues. They’re all actually nice to look at, but most of them still gave me the creeps. I almost had a panic attack one time when I saw the life-sized portrait of his grandmother near the staircase. While we lounged around the house, some of my friends decided to play dodge ball (?) and ended up getting really wet for some reason. I couldn’t remember the exact details, but they were all laughing so hard while the rest of us who stayed inside just stared at them; not really knowing what to say or how to react, and slightly tapping to the beat of some song by Melanie Martinez. We played “Never Have I Ever” and we learned a lot more about each other. It wasn’t really awkward despite the occasional ‘tmi’s. It was actually a lot of fun. So basically, that’s just a brief recap on what happened that day. It may not seem like much, but being with them really makes me feel so much joy. I’m so lucky to have them. If you have any stories about adventures with your closest friends, feel free to send me an ask or submit me some snapshots of them!‘Till next time,Maria x -- source link
