#Repost @frizzkidart (@get_repost)・・・Today’s affirmation art: All survivors are brave. All victims are brave. Those who share their stories of surviving sexual violence/intimate partner violence are brave, but those who may not be able to share their stories or don’t want to are also brave. No survivor/victim is cowardly and it’s their choice what they want to do with their story. You may also wonder why I chose to include the word “victim.” Not everyone who experiences sexual violence or intimate partner violence feels like a “survivor.” If we want to approach this issue in a “survivor-centric” way, then we can’t impose the same strong, recovery, survival narrative on every person impacted by sexual violence/IPV. Every survivor/victim is different, navigates their trauma differently, and has different perspectives on justice and healing looks like. In looking at the #MeToo movement, I’ve seen a tendency to want to tell all stories the same way, without realizing that all survivors/victims have different intersections in their identity that a) impacts their likelihood to experience violence and b) changes the way experience justice and reconciliation with trauma. Every survivor/victim is worthy of love, respect, and support. Every survivor/victim is brave no matter how they choose to cope with their trauma. #art #artist #affirmation #illustration #drawing #draw #healing #heal #justice #metoo #feministart #endrapeculture #selflove #brave #torontoartist #feminist -- source link
