peashooter85:The Nagant Model 1910,The next step in design after the Russian M1895 Nagant, the M1910 was a design by Leon Nagant of Belgium as an improvement to the older model. Like the older M1895, the M1910 used a gas seal system which when the pistol was cocked, the cylinder would move forward against the chamber to ensure no gas escaped from the cylinder gap. It was also chambered for 7.65 Nagant, the cupped cartridge which had the bullet seated within the brass in order to enhance the gas seal system. The new Model 1910 featured a swing out cylinder for faster and easier loading. However, due to expansion of the 7.65 Nagant cartridge’s brass, the M1910 suffered from extraction issues. Originally the Russian Army had intended to phase out the Model 1895 in favor of the M1910, however the design was rejected due to it’s extraction problems. Leon Nagant planned to perfect the design, however the capture of Belgium by German forces during World War I suspended productions of Nagant firearms. Only 2,500 Model 1910 revolvers were produced. -- source link
