thedisneyfiles:didyouknowwaltdisney:Did you know? That the drawbridge for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is fully operational and has only been raised and lowered twice in Disneyland’s history? The first time being when the park opened, and the second time in 1983 when Fantasyland got its new makeover. My understanding (and I could be wrong or have outdated information) is that the drawbridge, while technically still a drawbridge, is far from operational. When I was a cast member in the early 2000s I remember hearing of plans to lower it every day during the 50th Anniversary Celebration. But when workers went in to check the inner workings, they were in an incredible state of disrepair (after all, they hadn’t been touched since the new Fantasyland opened in 1983), and it was deemed too costly to repair. -- source link
